This Privacy Policy explains how StarTrip Technologies FZ-LLC (“StarTrip”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects personal information when users (“you”, “Riders”, “Drivers”) access or use the StarTrip mobile applications, websites, software, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).

 

By creating an account or using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

StarTrip operates the Platform globally.

 

In Papua New Guinea, StarTrip engages Khoco Limited solely as a local support service provider. Khoco does not:

 

  • Operate the Platform

  • Provide Transportation Services

  • Employ Drivers

  • Determine purposes or means of data processing

 

 

Khoco processes limited data strictly under StarTrip’s instruction and only for support purposes.

 

StarTrip is the data controller for all Platform data.

 

 

 

2. Information We Collect

  • Mobile number

Drivers must provide:

  • Driver’s licence

  • Vehicle registration & ownership papers

  • Roadworthiness certificates

  • Insurance documentation

2.3 Payment & Transaction Information

 

 

For Riders:

 

  • Card details (tokenised; StarTrip never stores full card numbers)

  • Billing details

  • Payment confirmations

  • Refund data

  • FX conversion data (AED, PGK, etc.)

 

 

For Drivers:

 

  • Wallet balances

  • Earnings and trip payouts

  • Bank or mobile-money account details

  • Withdrawal history

  • Service fee deductions

 

 

 

2.4 Location & Trip Information

 

 

  • Real-time GPS location (Driver and Rider)

  • Pickup and drop-off coordinates

  • Trip route, distance, timestamps

2.5 Device & Technical Information

  • Mobile carrier

  • App activity logs

  • Crash diagnostics

  • In-app chat between Riders and Drivers

  • Calls made through the StarTrip masked-number system

  • Support chats or calls with StarTrip or Khoco

2.7 User-Generated Content

 

 

  • Rider ratings

  • Driver ratings

  • Matching Riders with Drivers

Depending on your jurisdiction, processing is based on:

5. How We Share Information

 

 

We share data only as necessary and in accordance with this Policy.

 

 

5.1 With Drivers (for Riders’ trips)

  • Pickup and drop-off locations

  • Live location during active trip

  • Phone number (masked where possible)

 

 

 

5.2 With Riders (for Drivers’ trips)

 

 

  • Driver name and photo

  • Vehicle details

  • Trip route and arrival ETA

  • Driver rating

 

 

 

5.3 With Khoco Limited (PNG)

 

 

Khoco receives only the data necessary to perform local support functions, such as:

 

  • Wallet top-up and withdrawal facilitation

  • Support calls and complaint handling

  • Document verification assistance

  • Driver training and onboarding support (if enabled)

 

 

Khoco acts as a processor, not controller.

 

 

5.4 With Third-Party Service Providers

 

 

Including:

 

  • Payment processors

  • Cloud hosting providers

  • Mapping and navigation providers

  • SMS/communication vendors

  • Identity verification services

  • IT and security vendors

 

 

These providers are contractually required to protect your data.

  • Wallet and earnings data: 7 years

  • In-app communications: 1–2 years

  • Driver documents: Active + required statutory retention

  • Account information: Until deletion + 12–36 months (for fraud and safety reasons)

 

 

After retention periods expire, we either delete or permanently anonymise the data.

 

 

 

8. Data Security

 

 

We use industry-standard measures to protect data, including:

 

  • Encryption at rest and in transit

  • Access control and authentication

  • Secure cloud architecture

  • Fraud detection systems

  • Regular security audits

11. Liability, Indemnity & User Responsibilities

 

 

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

 

  • StarTrip and Khoco are not liable for Driver or Rider conduct, accidents, injuries, property loss, or misuse of the Platform by third parties.

  • StarTrip is not responsible for delays, cancellations, or service disruptions.

 

 

You agree to indemnify StarTrip for losses arising from:

 

  • Illegal activity

  • Fraudulent payment or chargeback abuse

  • Misuse of the Platform

  • Damage to vehicles or property caused by you

 

 

Nothing in this Policy limits any rights that cannot be limited under applicable PNG or UAE law.

 

 

 

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

 

 

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

 

Any dispute relating to this Policy shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, except where local law requires otherwise.

 

If arbitration is not legally permitted, the dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of Ras Al Khaimah.

 

 

 

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

 

 

StarTrip may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Changes are effective immediately upon posting in the App or on the website.

 

Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
